Dec 2017 – Beerwah@Daybreak Report
Does RQ have the best volunteers? This little champion, Hayden was our finish line Marshall and what a cracker of a job he did! Thanks Hayden.
Now that the dust has settled or should we say the sweat washed away and with some zzzzzz, what an awesome day!
Mount Beerwah didn’t disappoint! The day started off cool and it wasn’t too long before the humidity kicked in big time.
The Marathoners started at 4am and spent the first 20 minutes in the dark, then were treated with an amazing sunrise over the mountain. And with the sun coming up, the heat turned up and so did the performances across the board.

RQ are always blown away with what runners can do out on the trail, from our front runners , doing cracking times, to our back runners, happy to be out on the trail and possibly finishing their first ever trail race. “ONCE YOU’VE BEEN ON TRAIL IT’S A LONG ROAD BACK”.
Not everything went to plan yesterday for a few runners with some injury issues. But how thankful we are for Warren and his team at Sunshine Coast First Aid Volunteers. Their experience and professionalism is amazing and they really looked after Helen. We would like to send best wishes to Helen and hope all goes well with the recovery. RQ is looking forward to seeing you back out on the trails soon!
Huge thanks go to all our volunteers, Sunco Runco, BTR, Sunny Coast Trail Chix, Pops, Peter Hogg (sweeper), Luke and Chris at the finish, Hayden and Jess our younger generation helpers, Elkie for her patience at timing, Pete, Lytia and Matt for your organisation skills at rego. Truly we couldn’t do it without you! You guys bring the most amazing spirit, THANK YOU.
And finally, to this beautiful land that we get to call our workplace, thank you!
